Snip does nothing, or the screen never dims

Snip works by freezing and dimming a still frame of your display, which requires macOS Screen Recording permission. Shotlet asks for it the first time you use Snip; if it was denied, the next Snip shows an alert with an Open System Settings button that takes you to System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording, where you can turn Shotlet on.

Shotlet’s Welcome window covers the same ground on first launch, and shows whether the permission is currently allowed.

A global shortcut does not fire

Another app has most likely claimed the same combination — Shotlet reports a conflict when the keys are already registered elsewhere. Open Settings › Shortcuts and record a different combination for that action, or use Remove Shortcut and Restore Default to start over. All five shortcuts are rebindable: Snip, Snip & Copy, Paste, History, and Show or Hide Pins.

The default for Snip is , and every other default builds on the same pair.

Requirements
